What Hundred Words does with your data
Hundred Words keeps as little about you as it can. You can use every page without an account, and your progress stays in your own browser unless you choose to sign in with Google.

What stays on your device
The words you mark as known, the drill questions you miss, the characters you have learned and your settings are saved in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device unless you sign in.
Audio comes from the voices built into your phone or computer. The text being spoken is handled by your device, and Hundred Words never receives a recording of you.
If you sign in with Google
Google tells us your name, your email address, your profile photo and an account number Google uses for you. We ask for nothing else: no contacts, no calendar, no Drive.
We use this to create your account and to save your progress on our server, so it follows you to your other devices.
We keep a session cookie so you stay signed in. It is needed for sign-in to work and is never used for advertising.
If you join the trip guide waiting list
We keep your email address, the language and whether the trip is a holiday or for business. We use it only to tell you when the personal trip guide is ready.
Services we rely on
Fonts come from Google Fonts and the stroke animations for Chinese characters come from the jsDelivr network. Like any website, those services see your IP address when your browser fetches the files.
The site runs on a DigitalOcean server in Singapore, managed through Laravel Forge.
There is no advertising, no analytics tracking and no selling or sharing of your data.
Deleting your data
To clear what is on your device, clear this site's data in your browser settings.
To delete your account, saved progress or waiting list entry, email us from the address you used and we will delete it within 30 days.
Children
The Chinese characters course is written for children to use with a parent. Children should not sign in themselves: a parent can sign in with their own Google account to save progress.
