Smart practice: a test that goes after your weak words

A new way to test yourself on the 100 words that asks most about the ones you get wrong, and gives you one you know when you have missed a couple in a row.

What you can do now

  • Each word gets a score from your answers. Words you miss come back within minutes, words you are learning come back after a day or a few days, and words you know only return when they are due a check.
  • Miss two in a row and the next question is one you know, marked "One you know", so you get a win before the hard ones come back.
  • In Vietnamese and Mandarin you also hear what someone says and pick your reply.
  • A panel shows how many of your 100 words are strong, learning, shaky or not seen yet, and lists your weak spots.
  • Ten questions are free in every language. Unlimited Smart practice will come with Hundred Words Plus, a one-off trip pass or a yearly plan. The 100 words, flashcards, drills and pocket cards stay free.

Why we made this change

Testing yourself beats reading a list, but most quizzes waste your time on words you already know. This one spends your ten minutes on the words that would trip you up at the counter.
