Mandarin for China, in real conversations
The 100 Mandarin words for China are now taught inside 12 scenes from a first trip, from Shanghai Pudong to the high-speed train to Beijing.
What you can do now
- Follow a first trip through the airport SIM desk, a DiDi ride, hotel check-in, the convenience store, a milk tea shop, noodles, hotpot, the market, the metro and the train.
- Hear the questions that come back at you, like 要袋子吗? (do you want a bag?) and 微信还是支付宝? (WeChat or Alipay?).
- Learn practical tips along the way, like the DiDi driver asking for the last four digits of your phone number.
- Drill the Mandarin scenes with fill-the-gap and reply questions.
Why we made this change
Mandarin is the default language on Hundred Words, so it should open with the moments that trip you up on day one, like the cashier's question after you pay.
